Electronic Security Design Engineer
Primary Role:
The Electronic Security Design Engineer supports internal teams and clients with expert knowledge in the areas of video surveillance and access control. This position is responsible for producing the bill of materials and final design of security solutions into new and renovated commercial facilities to include all labor, materials, licenses, and services necessary to deliver projects that exceed the clients’ expectations. Additionally, this position is responsible for developing detailed drawings, submittals, close-out packages, and obtaining permits when required.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Promote company core values
- Adhere to safety policies and procedures of company, contractors, and customers
- Perform site surveys and job field observations
- Attend design coordination meetings and provide meeting minutes
- Prepare scopes of work, plans and specifications, drawing packages including schematics, floor plans, RCPs, elevations, mounting details, etc.
- Generate designs using Revit, Visio, and D-Tools
- Assist project managers with submittals, RFI’s, changes orders, as-builts, etc.
- Pursue industry and manufacturer certifications
- Provide support to PM and field team as needed to complete projects in a timely manner
- Track activities and expenses in service management system
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- BS degree in electrical engineering, electronic systems engineering technology, industrial distribution, or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in commercial security design with emphasis on access control
- Must have portfolio of sample designs
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CAD applications
- Ability to create construction documents and specifications
- Detail oriented with ability to scrutinize estimates and provide turnkey designs insuring high degree of completeness and accuracy of Bill of Materials
Certifications:
Preference given for access control certifications from Avigilon, Axis, and Genetec.
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of network protocols and design
- Able to read and understand floor plans and design from architects
- Has knowledge of building and electric codes and OSHA regulations
- Is detailed oriented, organized, responsive, and punctual
- Able to plan, organize, and multitask for successful completion of activities and projects
- Able to communicate technical concepts clearly and simply to non-technical individuals
- Has excellent written communication and presentation skills
- Actively demonstrates positive attitude and commitment of service to others

- Clean driving record
Travel:
Some travel required, however, overnight stays are infrequent.
Compensation:
Compensation commensurate with experience along with paid medical, dental, 401K, vacation, and other benefits.
Work environment and physical demands:
The daily work environment is a professional office building with occasional visits to construction and customer sites. The employee must be able to use a computer and tools while standing or sitting for long periods of time. Noise levels can range from low to moderate while in the office to loud when on a jobsite. As part of this job you will be required to talk, listen, hear, sit, stand, stoop, kneel, bend, rotate, push, pull, reach with hands and arms extended on an intermittent to regular basis. The employee must be able to walk long distances while occasionally wearing boots and personal protective equipment. The physical demands listed here are required to perform essential aspects of this job.
